Fleet Supervisor
A bit about the role
We’re Forest, the bikes that look like trees. We’re London’s most sustainable shared eBike operator. We bridge the gap between affordability and sustainability, using our advertising revenue to offer all users 10 minutes free cycling daily.
We’re looking for a Fleet Supervisor to lead our on-the-ground eBike operations. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the deployment of our e-bike fleet, battery swapping, relocations, and retrieval of damaged bikes. You will manage the daily activities of our drivers, coordinating their shifts, ensuring they meet performance targets, and optimising our fleet availability.
This role requires a high level of comfort with computer systems, as you’ll be using our bespoke software to manage shifts and monitor the fleet. You’ll be based at our warehouse location in Elephant and Castle, where you will oversee our daily operations and work closely with fellow Supervisors who diligently manage other aspects of the operation. Alongside our Workshop Maintenance and On-Street Maintenance (Guardians) Supervisors, you will ensure that wheels of operations keep on turning.
While our current operations are centred in London, we are preparing for international expansion. For the right candidate, this position offers substantial growth potential as our business scales and the fleet management team grows.
Schedule: 45 hour per week contract
Flexibility is key in this role, as our fleet is managed across seven days a week by two Supervisors who share responsibilities. For this position, we’re looking for someone who is comfortable with an early start, typically around 6-7am, working through to mid-afternoon. We are offering a 45 hour per week contract.
Additionally, you’ll be expected to cover every other weekend, with time off in lieu the following week. This schedule is coordinated with the Operations Manager to maintain both autonomy and effective coverage, ensuring we meet our operational goals.
Start Date: ASAP
Your key responsibilities include:
- Fleet Management: Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and availability of our eBikes on the streets. Ensure that battery swapping, rebalancing, and bike collection are carried out efficiently to maintain our fleet availability targets.
- Shift Coordination: Manage the shifts and schedules of drivers operating our fleet of 10 electric vans, as well as those from external agencies. Use our operations app to direct drivers and monitor their progress.
- Performance Monitoring: Track the performance of drivers using our back-end system, ForestFleet. Identify issues, provide feedback, and implement remedial training as necessary to ensure targets are met.
- Incident Management: Be prepared to step in when needed, including covering shifts, handling last-minute schedule changes, and carrying out high priority tasks for the Operations Team.
- Platforms & Systems: Leverage our automated operations app to streamline processes and ensure efficient coordination of the fleet. Continuously monitor fleet health and direct resources to address any operational issues.
- Driver Development and Onboarding: Provide initial and ongoing training and support to drivers to enhance their performance and ensure they adhere to company standards.
- Van Upkeep & Maintenance: Ensure regular servicing and timely maintenance of our fleet of electric vans, coordinating repairs and inspections as needed to maintain optimal performance and safety. Keep accurate records of vehicle health and proactively address any issues to minimise downtime.
