Maintenance Supervisor
A bit about the role
We’re Forest, the bikes that look like trees. We’re London’s most sustainable shared eBike operator. We bridge the gap between affordability and sustainability, using our advertising revenue to offer all users 10 minutes free cycling daily.
We’re looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to lead our Guardian team, which plays a crucial role in maintaining our eBikes while they are deployed on the streets.
You’ll be responsible for overseeing a team of mobile mechanics (Guardians) who cycle across different zones in the city. Their tasks include attending to bikes marked for damage, managing parking locations with high concentrations of bikes, and locating bikes reported as missing by users or drivers. You will split your time between desk-based monitoring of bike conditions via our platforms and spending time in the field to ensure the quality of work being done by the team.
This role requires a strong proficiency with computer systems, as you’ll be using our bespoke software to monitor the fleet and manage the team’s activities. You’ll be based at our warehouse location in Elephant and Castle, where you will oversee our daily operations and work closely with fellow Supervisors who diligently manage other aspects of the operation. Alongside our Workshop Maintenance and Fleet Maintenance Supervisors, you will ensure that wheels of operations keep on turning.
Flexibility is important in this role, as a mix of hands-on work in the field and strategic oversight from the warehouse will be needed to ensure the Guardian Team are meeting their targets
While our current operations are centred in London, we are preparing for international expansion. For the right candidate, this position offers substantial growth potential as our business scales and the Guardian team expands.
Schedule: 45 hour per week contract, Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm.
Start Date: ASAP
Your key responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership: Oversee the Guardian team responsible for maintaining eBikes on the streets, ensuring that all assigned tasks, such as damage repairs, parking management, and bike location updates, are completed efficiently.
- Shift Management: Coordinate the shifts and schedules of the Guardians to ensure adequate coverage across different zones in the city.
- Quality Assurance: Spend time in the field with the Guardians to check the quality of their work and provide on-the-spot guidance or training as needed.
- Performance Monitoring and training: Use our back-end system to track the performance of the Guardian team, to identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary training or adjustments.
- System Management: Utilise our operations software to monitor fleet status and coordinate team activities, ensuring that all processes are carried out smoothly and efficiently.
- Incident Response: Be prepared to step in when needed to address any issues that arise, whether by adjusting schedules, providing additional support in the field, or handling unexpected challenges.
Who you are:
- You have 1-2 years of experience in fleet maintenance, logistics, or a similar role.
- You have experience training and supporting other team members
- You thrive in a dynamic environment and are comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities.
- You have strong leadership skills and enjoy mentoring and motivating a team.
- You’re highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage both fieldwork and desk-based tasks.
- You’re tech-savvy, with quick adaptability to new software and proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
- You’re hands-on and enjoy being actively involved in the day-to-day operations.
- You’re confident in providing feedback and enforcing procedures to maintain high standards.
Added Bonuses:
- Experience working with fleet management software or similar logistics systems.
- Previous experience in the eBike or micromobility industry.
