Accountant
About Forest
We’re Forest. You know, those shared ebikes in London that look like trees. We’re London’s most sustainable shared ebike operator. We bridge the gap between affordability and sustainability, using advertising revenue to offer all users 10 minutes of free cycling every day. Our mission is to help cities move greener—and we’re growing fast.
We have just closed the first round (£13 million) of our Series B and are set to expand to another European city this year. Last year, our loyal user base completed over 9 million rides.
A bit about the role
We’re looking for a dynamic Accountant to drive accurate financial reporting and support daily finance operations. You’ll take a hands-on role across general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and process optimisation, helping us build a strong financial foundation as we scale.
You’re someone who enjoys digging into the details, continuously improving systems, and understands how accounting reflects the story of a business. You’ll thrive in a low-structure, high-impact environment where you can grow, take initiative, and shape how we do things. Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Key responsibilities include:
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices, managing the weekly payment run process
- Maintain up-to-date records of supplier payments and expenses
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, and support collections when required
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Support monthly close processes including reconciliations, journal entries, and reviewing key balance sheet accounts
- Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure adherence to UK GAAP/IFRS and international accounting standards
- Work with our external accountants to support tax filings (including VAT returns), audits, and financial reporting
- Maintain organised, audit-ready records of financial transactions and documentation
Operational Support & Projects
- Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis for new business lines and special projects
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support their implementation
What you’ll need
- Part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- 2+ years in a top 8 public accounting firm or 3+ of accounting experience in a high-growth tech company
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong understanding of IFRS, UK GAAP and general ledger accounting
- Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets
- Experience using accounting software (Xero preferred)
- Detail-oriented, organised, and eager to learn
- A proactive mindset with a problem-solving approach
- A collaborative team player who enjoys working cross-functionally
- Interest in sustainability and technology is a plus
